What this service is

Finding mold after a storm, a roof leak or a long, wet summer is stressful. Calling company after company and repeating the same story makes it worse. This site shortens that step. You send one request, and it goes to independent companies that work in your part of the metro. They contact you directly.

The site also explains, in plain language, what mold jobs tend to cost, when testing helps and when it doesn't, what Louisiana law says about mold contractors, and what to check before you sign. Prices are dated, published third-party ranges, not quotes, and sources are named.

What this service is not

  • Not a mold company. NOLA Mold Remediation does not inspect, test, remove or remediate mold, and does not rebuild anything. It has no crews or technicians.
  • Not a contractor. The company you choose writes the scope, signs the contract with you, does the work and answers for it.
  • Not a license checker. The site does not verify licenses, insurance or workmanship, and it cannot promise that every company that replies is licensed. Louisiana requires a Mold Remediation license from the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors (LSLBC) for mold remediation projects of about $7,500 and up (La. R.S. 37:2150.1). Before you sign, look up the company's license on the LSLBC website.
  • Not an insurance or legal service. Nothing here is legal, insurance or medical advice, and the site does not file or handle claims.

How the site is paid. Requesting quotes is free for you. The independent companies that receive requests may pay NOLA Mold Remediation to receive them. That payment is how the site is funded. It does not change what a company charges you, and you are never obligated to hire anyone.

Who replies to a request

Requests go to independent local businesses. Depending on what you describe, that may be a mold remediation contractor, a mold inspection or testing company, or both. They are different companies for a reason. In Louisiana, a mold remediation contractor may not also do the mold assessment on the same property, or own the company that does (R.S. 37:2158). If you want an independent assessment or a clearance test after the work, it should come from a separate company.

Before you hire anyone, ask for:

  • A written contract that shows the company's license number, the price and its insurance certificates.
  • Proof of at least $100,000 in liability insurance and workers' compensation coverage.
  • A written report of the work when the job is done.

The steps of a typical mold job and the FAQ cover the rest, including small jobs. The EPA says that if the moldy area is less than about 10 square feet, most people can handle it themselves, and Louisiana lets owners and tenants do their own work without a license.

Are you a mold company?

Independent mold inspection, testing and remediation companies that serve New Orleans and the nearby parishes can ask about receiving requests. Use the quote form, choose "Not sure yet," and put "company inquiry" in the details with your company name, the parishes you serve and the work you do. Remediation companies should be ready to share their LSLBC license information.

How the site keeps it honest

  • No invented reviews, ratings, badges or years in business.
  • No promises about response times. Describe your situation any time; companies reply on their own schedules.
  • Health wording follows the EPA and CDC: mold can cause allergic and irritant reactions, and people with asthma or weakened immune systems may be more sensitive. See a doctor for symptoms.
  • Storm history is stated with dates and sources, without fear hooks.
